Are you seeing a Dr or better yet, a pain specialist? There are many treatments for this kind of pain. Try taking an anti-inflammatory like Aleve (naproxen) or ibuprofen. Also try applying heat packs or cold packs (or both alternating) depending on what helps the most. Massage can be helpful in relieving muscle spasms. Gentle exercise especially some walking will help. When the damage first happens bed rest a day or two is okay but beyond that you are hurting yourself more than helping.
