My 4 y/o daughter has stomach pain (cramps, not sharp pain) and a fever of 101.6. If she lifts her legs up and lays or sits in the fetal position it relieves some of her stomach discomfort. We're assuming it's just a bug but as usual when we look symptoms up online it's always cancer or the bubonic plague. We plan on using Tylenol for the fever and some pear juice or something for her stomach (seems like constipation). Just want to get some medical opinions. Thanks.
A fever is not a symptom of constipation. Fever is your body's attempt to fight off an infection/virus. 101.6 is nothing deadly or to be too concerned about. The main issue with fever is keeping body temperature down. As much as she will want to cover up, and stay warm, you need to keep her cool. Place a cold damp towel on her forehead, remove any blankets, and lay her down. Your body naturally regulates itself in the supine or on your back. The fever is what is critical. You need to watch it closely, once every hour or so, and I would begin to rotate tylenol and motrin. Tylenol every 4 hours and Motrin every 6. Verify directions on packaging for sure timings.
If her fever gets 102.5+ take her to the ER. Or if her cramps become stabbing pain. It would be gallbladder or kidney infection.
