... It's not hemeroids cause i would know if they were present. It's bright red in color. It's not painful but every so often I can feel a bit of discomfort in my stomach. Any ideas what it could be??? Thanks in advance.
Rectal bleeding is not to be taken lightly.
It can also cause anemia so you need to see a doc. If possible, try and go to a GI because you will probably be referred there anyway.
Hemorrhoids can also be internal and you may be unaware of them.
Bright red blood can be indicative of intestinal disease... ulcer, etc.
When the blood is bright it means you are bleeding from your intestines or rectum.
When the blood is black "tarry" it means it is an upper GI bleed... esophagus, stomach. Sometimes it's mixed in with the stool so it appears streaked. It just depends on how actively you are bleeding.
The only way to find out is an exam.
There are other bleeding disorders but the % is very low.
Get to a doc!
