I just started lithium 150mg twice a day. Because I am at such a low dose should I not have to worry about toxicity? I’ve read a lot about this drug but I didn’t see anything about toxicity with low doses.what do you think?
Hi, Ash! Highly unlikely, but every person responds differently to medications. You should be aware of potential symptoms of toxicity, and your doctor should be ordering periodic blood work performed to determine your blood levels and whether or not your levels are even in the therapeutic range.
BTW, I've taken 1200mg/day for years with no untoward effects.
Best regards, Wildcat
P.S., remember to drink plenty of fluids to maintain your hydration especially in hot weather or if you're excercizing or doing manual labor!
