My question, too, Kais! TKMOMGG, why are you on sooo much Lyrica and Gabapentin? Most times, its usually one or the other. This could very well be the reason you are having such difficulties. You're taking 225mg of Lyrica and 1800mg of gabapentin per day. Thats a lot to contend with. You might want to rethink this with your doctor. Good luck!
Hi tkmomgg, I must agree with kaismama and Tee. You are being blasted with too much in the anti-seizure meds, xanax is great for anxiety but tends to cause some short term memory loss, yet probably not at the one miligram level, that's low.
Both Gabapentin and Lyrica can cause major cognitive issues, hunting for words, memory loss (goes away after you cease taking it) and loads of other thinking related problems. I know this because I'm also suffering from this issue myself, as I write this. I actually had to sit here for a sec to think of the word 'cease'! My vocabulary used to be quite vast, now I must hunt for the right words to use. So, talk to your doctor, perhaps your Lyrica and/or Gabapentin could be lowered.
May I ask if you suffer from seizures? Is that why you are on both Lyrica and Neurontin? (if you don't feel comfortable answering any question, please just ignore it.) IF you don't have any seizure disorder, you will find if your dose is lowered, your cognitive issues will go away, but you must taper off of these medications. That point is very important as it may be dangerous for you to go cold turkey off of them all. Talk with your doc! : )
Best wishes to you,
p.s. I do hope you feel better very soon.
I agree with the comments above. Please do not reduce any of these without the help of your doctor. Take your list in and have the doc sort through, write down your questions before you go. Take someone with you because they may catch something you miss. It happens to all of us.
I have not checked your meds against the interaction checker on this site. However, you can look them up in the long box above, just under the alphabet. This may help you understand more about each medication so you have good questions for the doc. Let us know how you are doing.
I was on both Lyrica and Cymbalta at the same time and my pharmacist advised me to only be on one at a time. Evidently these nerve pain meds scramble the nerve signals in the brain and your brain doesn't know what to do with them so it stores them in your fat cells where they accumulate. I did better once I was off the Cymbalta - I stayed on the Lyrica. Regards - ElizaJane
