I had 3 stents and was told to be on plavix for at least one year. My cardiologist says I should continue and my primary physician says I could stop. What is the current thinking on this?

I feel that your cardiologist is the best judge in this matter because he knows just where the stents are the what the possible out come will be for stopping. There is a big debate as to if the plavix will work beyond a year. I was told not to stop taking my plavix because of the location of my stent, and yes I only have one but if it closes I will need by pass surgery. So it is a matter of which doctor you feel knows your heart best, your cardiologist or your primary physician.
