... Cytomel again in the afternoon. I have gained 10 lbs. in 2 months and feel like my thyroid is low again. How is this possible when I am on so much thyroid medication?
If you feel like your thyroid is low, then you need to get another TSH done. Its possible your feelings are correct. How long have you been on thyroid meds? Do you see an endocrinologist? I could gain 10 pounds in 2 months without even trying, and there is nothing wrong with my thyroid, lololol
It's 2 to almost 3 years since 2010 and your last lab work. This could kill you-leave you with a damaged heart. I live in a state where thyroid is carefully monitored by state law. Who ever is selling you thyroid or prescribing it with out lab work would probably be in jail. OK- weight-we just had a discussion where 3 of us with hypothyroidism lost weight, while pregnant-2 of us went below 80 lbs. We lost about 8-15 lbs a pregnancy. i had a heavy friend with hyperthyroid. High and low thyroid levels have many of the same symptoms, which is why a patient needs a lab do a thyroid screen. Thinning hair, dry skin, heart problems-even heart attacks, symptoms of mental illnesses and emotional problems, irregular menses, sleep problems, depression, muscle aches, irritability, mental confusion, fatigue, food cravings, etc. Hyper-the heart beats too fast and you can have high blood pressure-stroke out, die from heart attacks and have permanent heart damage, it can ruin your kidneys too. Hypo-your system is slowed down, which can cause a different type of heart condition from beating too slow. Both of these cause fatigue from the heart not working right. There are many things wrong with this state, but a doctor is required by law to conduct a thyroid test every 12 months. Thyroid can't be prescribed for more than 6 months, then the doctor writes a new script, and then it is time for new lab work. I don't mean to sound cruel--- but you have a lot more to worry about than weight--also weight loss is not the reason to take a hormone supplement-the reason to take a hormone supplement is to keep your heart beating in a regular beat without muscle or valve damage, and for your other glands to produce normal and healthy hormones. Then the rest of you stays healthy. You need to take charge of your life-and get lab work done and quit worrying about weight-I don't care if you're 5 lbs over weight or 500 lbs overweight. You don't need a doctor that worries about symptoms-you need a doctor that worries how your thyroid is affecting your heart.
