have been taking it out and re-inserting it when I have intercourse. I would like to know if Im protected during intercourse or do I have to use it all the time? I recently had a miscarraige in December and I started the ring in January. I wore the ring correctly the 1st week of my time in February but like i said I have been taking it out and only inserting it before intercourse. What are my chance of becomng pregnant or am I protected while its in?
Some women take it out for intercourse because it irritates their partner to leave it in but if you leave it out longer than 3 hours in a 24 hour period, it is no longer protecting you. It is not a device to use only during sex, it doesnt work that way so you are not protected when you do this. You HAVE to keep it in all the time so that your body can absorb the hormones it secretes. It is a hormonal method, not a barrier method. Please read the FULL directions and if you dont understand them, speak to your gynecologist or PCP. Your chances for pregnancy are as great as if you used nothing at all by only inserting the ring to have sex. You are not using it right and it is not going to protect you fully.
