Dear Tiffany, welcome to the site, please start prenatal vitamins today, they do have store brands over the counter. The folic acid in prenatal vitamins helped prevent Down's syndrome and spinal neural defects, like spina bifida. Since you are off the pill, it would be a very good thing to protect any future babies by taking prenatal all vitamins. Take them with food. Patti
Hi Tiffany - Welcome to DC and I hope you find our community supportive and friendly. I must say I am not sure I am understanding your question. When exactly did you have unprotected sex? Like just now and after having been off the pill for two months? Or, just after deciding not to take the pill any more? It is entirely possible to get pregnant during the next month that you stopped the pill but I am not sure (for you) when you had unprotected sex?
For instance, when you started the second month on the pill and you took them regularly... you would be fully protected. During the third month you decide not to take the pill any more so didn't start. It is possible to get pregnant then that month that you were not on the pill. There generally is no lag time in which you are guaranteed not to get pregnant once you are off the pill because it messes with your hormones so it is hard to say when you thought you should be ovulating.
By the way, lots of women have symptoms like you describe just before, during and just after their periods who are not pregnant. I use to get horrible back aches... didn't feel like eating... my breasts hurt and so on and so forth but that was normal for me.
If you want to be SURE whether you are pregnant or not... go to your doctor and have blood work done. Being a single parent isn't all that it is cracked up to be.
I am glad you would be happy either way. Would your boyfriend be just as happy? Does he know you are no longer on the pill or that you were not on the pill when you last had unprotected sex?
