I am not forced to take it, I take so I dont drink when i have issues with my ptsd. I just dont want to get sick if i go and celebrate my b-day with some drinks this weekend.
If you're trying to stop drinking (which is why people take antabuse) - then why would you want to go and drink on your birthday? You know, you can have fun even without alcohol??? People think they need to drink on special occasions - but they don't. It's all about changing your lifestyle. Drinking on your birthday could just disrupt your entire plan and goals? Why do that?
I realize that this is WAY after the matter, but... 1st it irks me that ppl answer like "why ruin your sobriety? You dont need alcohol to hsve fun etc etc. I Also take 250mg becuz I ASKED my Psychiatrist for it, & i ALSO have PTSD, & i Also go Off of it here n there so that i can drink when i want (like when some friends travel here ona fish trip & i wanna drink w/ them at nite. And i CAN go to the bar with friends, drink Cactus Coolers & have as much fun (if not more) as anyone else! People would never realize any difference LoL.
Anyway, i hope you didnt find out the Hard Way how long it takes OFF the Antabuse before you can drink?! Its SO different in SO many ways in Different situations! :/ it would be interesting to share our learnings but ive gotta run off rt now. I'll see uf i hear anymore from you, otherwise, Good Luck & Chin Up! :)
