... 6 months. Dr. said as long as I don't have any side effects its ok to keep taking. Any opinions on taking it forever?
I've taken 2400 mgs of ibuprofen daily for pain and inflammation for years with no problem. I have bloodwork done every 90 days due to some of my other medications that keeps an eye on my liver. You could request the bloodwork from your Dr. if you're concerned. Just be sure to tell any Dr or dentist you've been taking this before having any type of surgical procedure and you should be fine. What works for me may not necessarily work for everyone else, so I'm sure you'll get some different opinions here shortly! This is just my experience. I hope this helps!
Hi. This really depends upon your particular stomach. My husband did the same for three years. Worked great for him. Until the night he doubled over in pain. Then he fainted twice. Then the ambulance took him and he had a bleeding ulcer. A hole in his stomach. He lost so much blood at that time that they were lining up bags for transfusion. It also ended up putting his heart into Afib. His doctor didn't see a problem before hand. He had handled it well. No signs of anything before it happened. It was not bacterial. The GI doctor said that he sees this too frequently.
Yes, doctors don't want those taken daily for long term. Says so right on the package. I suggest you talk further with the doctor. And for all who take this on a daily basis, please be sure to see an ER if you have any dark blood in your stool, vomiting fluids with strong pain, and so forth. We made it in time.
