In my brain) My INR has been below target longer than it had been therapeutic despite an increasing dose. I am now on 7mg daily, inr 1.3 and dr seems reluctant to increase past 0.5mg each time. I cannot think of anything that i have eaten or what is stopping inr from increasing. Drs wont do thrombophilia test as this was my first clotting episode - any advice?
Ask your doctor to change you over to Arixtra, Lovenox, or Xarelto. The first two are injectables. You will not have to worry about being within range or issues with food. If (s)he is not comfortable doing this then you need to see a hematologist. This person may be more amenable to doing the different blood tests to rule out blood disorders. If one of your current doctors is a hematologist then you may want to see a different hematologist or invoke your rights to a second opinion.
