To use in this stage of pregnancy
Hi vijram - If your ob/gyn is not aware that you are on this medication... talk to him/her immediately and before you take this med. It is not safe to take during pregnancy and specifically states that in the warning. If you have been exposed to parasites or something that a doctor other than your ob/gyn determined this is what you need... you must contact your other doctor (ob/gyn) yourself and discuss this. The warning that appears is as follows:
"This medication may cause harm to an unborn baby. Do not use albendazole if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during treatment. Use an effective form of birth control while you are using albendazole, and for at least 1 month after your treatment ends.
Your doctor may ask you to have a pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant before you take albendazole.
It is not known whether albendazole passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby."
Call your ob/gyn tomorrow and without pause. That doctor needs to be in the loop here unless that doctor is the one who prescribed it and is going to follow you carefully while you are taking it. I don't know the course of treatment here for that drug. You didn't mention how it was determined that you needed this. Did you go to the ER or a clinic because you weren't feeling well? You had blood work or something? It would be helpful to have more information and to post the questions as "conversational" rather than "direct". We can only answer once here as "direct". The conversational type questions allows for interaction which direct doesn't.
