... still have the side effects such as with carbonated drinks and confusion/memory loss. I was wondering when these side effects will go away? I know I took more than a recommended dose, but I really need this to end. Please let me know if you Guys have any answers I'm lost! Thanks
I took Topamax the name brand of Topamate for 15 years, let me say that Topamax works much better. You have to take the amount that your Dr. Prescribed every day preferably before you go to sleep. I took 150mg /day and as much as 300mg. If you take only as much as you need to keep your migraines to an acceptable level the better your memory will be as the memory loss side effect does not go away while taking it. Toprimate doesn't work to stop a migraine only to prevent them, to stop one you need Zomig (this is what I take) or Maxalt or others, Midrin also works for mild migraines. If you are having trouble with carbonated drinks you maybe getting triggered by the citric acid which is about the same as lemon juice and citrus juices are a common migraine trigger (I have this trigger).
If toprimate will not work for you talk to your Dr about Lyrica I have been on it for almost 2 months (100 mg./day) and it works better than Topamax did. ~ James
