I have been on a small dose of clonazepam (0.5 mg. per day. I take the one pill in the morning. I have been taking this dose for 20 years. I would like to stop taking it, how slowly should I wean?
Being that 500mcg (0.5mg) is the lowest dosage unit, I would recommend going to benzo.org.uk and finding the ASHTON MANUAL, the definitive guide to benzodiazepine withdrawal.
A switch to diazepam is essential in order to be able to accurately lower the benzodiazepine in your system to be reduced, all is explained there and begin at your current dosage in the chart given for clonazepam withdrawal.
I have recently completed a reduction in my lorazepam dosage from 10mg (2.5mg x 4/day) to 5mg daily - it took one year to complete said reduction.
