... DEA will not let the manuf.. fill orders what do I do for pain relief in the wait time or is this just temporary
Jim when i was still working you should not have to do all this running around have the doctor call your REGULAR PHARMACY OR THEM CALL HIM AND SEE WHAT THEY DO HAVE and have him write a rx for what they can get like three 5mg at a time etc..don't worry this can be fixed.. Chuck Wise Sr. retired pharmacy techneicain Cpht GET WITH IT BEFORE YOU GET TO LOW.
I think that Chuck gave you some pretty good advice there. And if they didn't have 5 mg, ask for 30 mg that you can break in half.
This really has me worried! I recently learned that my prescription insurance is not going to allow me to go to my usual pharmacy this next year, 2014. They have taken them off of their list of allowed pharmacies. The only pharmacies I would have a choice between would be Costco (which I don't like because you have to walk through the whole store), Walgreens (which I don't like because I heard they got in trouble regarding oxycodone prescriptions and they run out of Oxycodone frequently), and I think Walmart was the other one.
I have very few pills (2 days worth) left at the end of each month when I refill my prescription.
By the way, what state do you live in?
Please let us know what happens with your prescription.
I heard a rumor a while ago that oxycodone 15 would no longer be manufactured. I know not if this is the truth or not, yet I suspect it is not the truth, too many people need that small dose!
Chuck sure did give you great advice, I do hope you follow it for you are obviously in pain.
This exact situation has happened to me a few times. Your doctor knows the pharmacists in the area as many of them bring catered lunches to Doctor's offices now to get new business. All of the answers above are excellent. I too am petrified of ending up in the hospital some day in horrible withdrawal. Everyone-always keep your empty script bottles and copies of your scripts so you have proof of legitimate opiate use. Pain free hugs to all! Kay
I have oxycontin 30 every 8 hours and then oxycodone 5mg 2 every 4 to 6 hours as needed for breakthrough pain. Now it was very difficult to fill. I went to Evert CVS and Walgreens in the area and they all said they didn't have it. It was getting very frustrating. So I called my doc and he suggested going to a hospital that has a outpatient pharmacy and it worked they had it filled in 10 mins. Also I was lucky because he works at the hospital I went to part time. So yes walgreens and CVS around here in Orlando make it very difficult to get medication that so many of us have legitimate reasons to use.

I've been taking 15mg oxycodone 3x for several years. My Dr recently raised me to 20mg oxycodone 3x.
