Had my dentures in but I had to have them take them out because it hurt too bad. I did not wear them at all yesterday due to so much pain. I tried putting them in this morning but they would not go in plus it hurt too bad to try to push them in. The pain med norco is not lasting the 6 hours that I am prescribed, the pain is too bad to deal with. Also I'm not allowed to take any kind of anti inflammatory due to past kidney failure so I'm kind of screwed. How do I get the dentures in without excruciating pain? I don't want to take more pain meds that I'm supposed to but I can't handle the pain. I've had teeth pulled before but never this many at a time.
It would have been much easier on you if you had left the dentures in in the first place. They help control the swelling, the bleeding and the pain. However, since that's not an option for you now, the best you can do without anti-inflammatory medication is to try and relieve the swelling with ice packs. Get the swelling down as best you can and get those dentures in place. I realize it's going to hurt, but you need to bite the bullet and get your new plate in. I promise that it will help then control the swelling and the pain. It will also help keep food particles out of the holes and is a major defense against developing dry socket. The pain you're in now is nothing like what you'll feel if you develop a dry socket. You'll have to talk to your dentist, or oral surgeon, about the pain meds. They may be able to increase the milligrams or change the medication to something else. Remember that the DEA has tied their hands on regards to the amount of narcotic medication they can prescribe without drawing undue attention to themselves. I hope you feel better soon!
