My depression is really bad. I'm sad daily with no motivation to do anything. I can't focus at work and increasing stressed out. I can't even make simple decisions like ordering from a menu? Is this from the withdrawal switching to a lower dose?
It is not uncommon to have a relapse of depression and feelings of being stressed out when tapering an antidepressant. You have been on Lexapro a long time. You have gone to half of what you normally take. This may create withdrawal symptoms. If your symptoms become intolerable best to talk to your doctor about options.
Hope you start to feel better soon.
Hi Suz. I didn't have much success with lexapro. I felt like what you described - no motivation, can't focus, increased stress, can't make simple decisions, etc. I am now taking an antidepressant that is working for me and giving me relief. It has always been my go-to antidepressant in the past that I would turn to when none of the others were working for me. There are still bumps in the road, but every day life is much easier for me while taking Wellbutrin SR. It works a little differently than the other antidepressants. Your doctor might be able to augment it with a short term anti-anxiety medication for the first week or so to help with the possible start up anxiety.
You never know till you try... It works for many people when none of the others seem to work for whatever reasons.
You mentioned wanting to try a natural path for treating your depression. My doctor actually recommended a Naturopathic MD, as I did not respond well to SSRI therapy and became reluctant to try others. I am taking Ashwagandha 500mg twice daily for anxiety. It's okay, not great, but I can manage. We will discuss an antidepressant tomorrow. Potentially, your MD may refer you to a Naturopathic provider if you decide this is the path you wish to take. I do appreciate, the lack of side effects with this drug, although everyone is different. I previously used Xanax prn and while effective the rebound anxiety was horrible. i"m keeping hope that you find a medication that works for you!
