My 1 year old granddaughter has had a rash around her mouth for over 6 months. Her parents took her to a specialist after waiting 3 months to be seen. The doctor told them it could possibly be staph, yet they said she did not test for staph. I've noticed scabs on her face, and tiny pus filled bubbles. The rash is located around her mouth, mostly where her pacifier sits on her face. I've advised them to take away the pacifier, yet both parents are convinced the pacifier has nothing to do with it. My questions are, if a doctor suspects staph, wouldn't they take a culture immediately? Also, would you recommend taking the pacifier away completely? They were given a cream, and told to keep it dry.
