It seems with the mild winter ive had my asthma nd my allergies act up like clock work every week..Do u think i should ask my dr for stronger meds or just deal.
Hi, it would help to know what medication you are taking for your asthma. I have asthma & use Ventolin inhaler & Clenil modulite (brown) inhaler. Some people need to have oral steroid medication prescribed if the asthma is very bad. Be warned this can cause weight gain. Also it is possible to have a nebuliser to use at home for particularly bad episodes. Look at your home as well, is there anything in your home environment that could worsen you breathing, such as pet hair, air deodoriser plug-ins etc?
It is a bad spring everywhere because of the very mild winter this year. I am having trouble with allergies, and I didn't even know I had them!! Not bad enough to medicate though. I DO have asthma, that generally comes out with an illness, and yes the cough is the major symptom. If the cough is keeping you awake that much at night, you need to get a different med. Sometimes my doc uses two meds to control the coughing, but I would think that you might need an asthma allergy med. (sorry i can't think of the name.) Regardless, if you are that bad off, you don't need our advice, you need the doctors' advice. Good luck!!
Hi Eve, & yes to your question. I have allergies & asthma, & this past few weeks have been horrible! So bad even my computer must have developed a dust allergy! It quit! Anyway, yes this early Spring is bad. Our cars sit in our drive about 15 to 20 feet away from our bedroom window, & they are just yellow with pollen already. It's going to be a bad year I'm afraid. If you have milk protein alleriges like I do you cannot use inhalers or they can do reverse & kill you. I have to use theophylline ER 200mg for my asthma, & Astelin (which is now generic) for the nasal part... Mary
I dont know if I have asthma but I do have allergies and they are worse than they have ever been. I am hearing alot of people saying that they're allergies are bad too, so we are not alone. I have tried many, many of the otc allergy meds and they do not seem to help much. My biggest problem is the sinus headaches that I thought were caused by the sinus pressure, but I am not sure. Also, if you see a doctor, have him check to see if you have a sinus infection, which will require antibiotics to get rid of the infection. Sometimes when my allergies are super bad it is because of a sinus infection. Recently I tried a prescription nasal spray called fluticasone 50mcg and it helped a bit. I believe inflammation is a big part of my allergy problem and I believe that nasal spray reduces the inflammation and gives a bit of relief. Basically, I just try stuff until I find what works best. We are all so very different and something that works for you may or may not work for me. Well, good luck on your search for a cure or just some relief.
