Vibrio anguillarum-ordalii Bacterin

This bacterin contains formalin inactivated cultures of Vibrio anguillarum serotypes I & II and Vibrio ordalii.

Uses

As an aid in the prevention of vibriosis caused by Vibrio anguillarum serotypes I & II and Vibrio ordalii.

Vaccination Program

This bacterin has been shown to be safe and effective when administered by immersion or injection to healthy salmonids. Vaccination should precede exposure to the disease agent by at least 250 degree-days (number of days multiplied by the mean water temperature [°C] during period). Revaccination can take place if immunity is required for longer than 300 days.

Vibrogen 2 Dosage And Administration

IMMERSION VACCINATION: Each litre of undiluted bacterin is sufficient for 100 kg of fish. To use, shake bacterin well and add 1 litre to 9 litres of clean hatchery water. Net, drain and immerse 5 kg batches of fish (2 g or larger in size) in bacterin for 30 seconds. The bath may be reused up to 20 times before discarding. Withhold food from fish 24 hours prior to vaccination.

INJECTION DELIVERY: To use, load automatic injection syringe reservoir aseptically with undiluted bacterin. Anaesthetize fish 10 g or larger to immobilize, and administer 0.1 mL of bacterin intraperitoneally one fin length ahead of the pelvic girdle along the midline. Return fish to holding facility. Withhold food from fish 48 hours prior to vaccination.

Vibrogen 2 Cautions

1. Shake well before use.

2. Store in original container at 2-8°C (35-46°F). DO NOT FREEZE.

3. Use entire contents when first opened.

4. Vaccinate healthy fish only.

5. Do not vaccinate within 21 days of slaughter.

6. In case of accidental injection, seek medical attention immediately.
