General Information

Vet-Kem Ovitrol Plus Flea & Tick Shampoo is an innovative concentrated insecticidal shampoo enriched with oatmeal, coconut extract, lanolin and aloe. It leaves your pet's coat soft, shining and manageable. It kills adult cat fleas, dog fleas, American dog ticks and brown dog ticks. Vet-Kem Ovitrol Plus Flea & Tick Shampoo contains the Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), Precor, which effectively breaks the flea life cycle and prevents the growth of the preadult stages of the flea. One treatment kills adult fleas and ticks and keeps flea eggs from hatching for 4 weeks.

Directions For Use

SHAKE WELL BEFORE USING. The application of approximately 8 ml of Vet-Kem Ovitrol Plus Flea & Tick Shampoo per kg body weight will effectively control adult fleas and ticks living on your pet and provide 4 weeks protection from flea eggs laid on your pet.

Vet-Kem Ovitrol Plus Flea & Tick Shampoo should be used at full strength. Thoroughly wet the animal with warm water. Do not apply shampoo around eyes, as irritation may result. Apply shampoo to back of head and ears, then lather; repeat procedure on neck, chest, middle and hind quarters, finishing with the legs. Continue to work lather in for 3 to 5 minutes (this is an important part of the grooming procedure), then rinse animal thoroughly. For extremely dirty or scaly animals, the above procedure may be repeated. Dry the animal.

Repeat only as necessary. Given the residual control afforded by Vet-Kem Ovitrol Plus Flea & Tick Shampoo, the application of this product once a month should be adequate. In exceptional circumstances, where there is a heavy external source of adult fleas reinfesting the animal, re-treatment may be increased to once per week. For effective flea and tick control, treatment of the pet should be combined with the sanitation of any area used by the pet. Vacuum floors, carpets and furniture (discard vacuum bag after use) and wash the pet's bedding, living quarters and surrounding areas. If pest problems persist, an insecticidal premise may be required. The use of an effective product for controlling adult and larval flea population in the pet's environment (e.g. Vet-Kem^® Siphotrol^® Sprays) will reduce the possibility of reinfestation of the animal.

Precautions

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Causes moderate eye and skin irritation. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When treating pet more frequently than once per month, the use of liquid proof gloves is recommended. After using, wash hands with soap and water.

Consult a veterinarian before using on pregnant animals, sick animals or animals under drug or other pesticide treatment. Do not use on nursing animals or animals under 8 weeks of age. Discontinue use if adverse effects are observed. Sensitive cats may exhibit temporary and non-harmful salivation when exposed to pyrethrin-containing products. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe the animal with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. If condition persists, consult your veterinarian immediately.

First Aid

IF IN EYES, flush with plenty of water. Get medical attention if irritation persists. IF SWALLOWED, call physician or Poison Control Centre. Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water and induce vomiting by touching the back of the throat with finger. Do not induce vomiting or give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. IF ON SKIN, wash affected area with soap and water. Take container, label or product name and Pest Control Product Registration Number with you when seeking medical attention.

Storage And Disposal

Do not reuse empty container. Wrap empty container and place in garbage.
