Valbazen Cattle Dewormer Paste Indications

Valbazen is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic effective in the removal and control of the following internal parasites of cattle:

Adult Liver Flukes: (Fasciola hepatica)

Heads and Segments of Tapeworms: (Moniezia benedeni, M. expansa)

Adult and 4th Stage Larvae of Stomach Worms: Brown Stomach Worms, including 4th stage inhibited larvae (Ostertagia ostertagi), Barberpole Worm (Haemonchus contortus, H. placei), Small Stomach Worm (Trichostrongylus axei)

Adult and 4th Stage Larvae of Intestinal Worms: Thread-necked Intestinal Worm (Nematodirus spathiger, N. helvetianus), Small Intestinal Worm (Cooperia punctata and C. oncophora)

Adult Stages of Intestinal Worms: Hookworm (Bunostomum phlebotomum), Bankrupt Worm (Trichostrongylus colubriformis), Nodular Worm (Oesophagostomum radiatum)

Adult and 4th Stage Larvae of Lungworms: (Dictyocaulus viviparus)

Directions For Use

This cartridge is intended for use only with the dosing gun designed for this product.

To prepare dosing gun for administration of Valbazen Cattle Dewormer Paste, follow these steps:

1. Depress elongated lever at rear of gun and retract plunger rod fully. Be sure to leave trigger free while retracting rod.

2. Insert large end of cartridge into the gun handle and turn the cartridge clockwise until tight.

3. Remove small cap from nozzle end of cartridge.

4. Loosen thumbscrew, select proper dose setting on the dial for the body weight of the animal to be treated, then tighten thumbscrew.

5. Depress trigger repeatedly until paste begins to extrude from nozzle. Discard ejected paste. This will ensure a full initial dose.

6. Place nozzle well back in the mouth of the animal.

7. Depress trigger 1 or 2 times as indicated to deliver a full dose for the weight range selected.

8. Remove cartridge by turning counterclockwise. Replace cap on nozzle if contents not fully used.

Valbazen Cattle Dewormer Paste Dosage And Administration

Valbazen Cattle Dewormer Paste should be administered to cattle at the recommended rate of 10 mg/kg (4.54 mg/lb) of body weight. The following table indicates recommended dosing schedules.

Important

Accurate estimates of the weight of the cattle to be treated are essential for most effective results with this product. Animals constantly exposed to internal parasites should be retreated as necessary.

One paste cartridge contains enough Valbazen to treat twenty-four 500-lb animals.

Warnings

Cattle must not be slaughtered within 27 days following last treatment. Because a withdrawal time in milk has not been established, do not use in female dairy cattle of breeding age.

Valbazen Cattle Dewormer Paste Caution

Do not administer to female cattle during first 45 days of pregnancy or for 45 days after removal of bulls. Consult your veterinarian for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment, and control of parasitism.
