Directions For Use

PIGS

1. As an aid in the treatment of swine dysentery (bloody scours):

- Treat by way of the drinking water for 3 to 10 days at 1 g per 4 litres (250 mg/litre).

- To make a solution of 1 gram per 4 litres (250 mg/litre) mix the contents of the package with 400 litres (approximately 100 U.S. gallons or 80 Imperial gallons).

2. As an aid in the treatment of porcine proliferative enteropathy (PPE) or ileitis associated with Lawsonia intracellularis:

- Treat by way of drinking water for 14 days at 1 g per 12 litres (83 mg/litre), or by way of drinking water for 7 days at 1 g per 12 litres (83 mg/litre) followed by Elanco Tylan in the feed at 110 mg/kg for 7 days.

- Treat by way of the drinking water for 3 days at 2 g per 4 litres (500 mg/litre); however, treatment may be administered for 1 to 5 days depending on the severity of infection.

- For the prevention of Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD) at the time of vaccination or other stress:

CHICKENS should be treated for the first 3 days of life. Repeat treatment for 1 day at 3 to 4 weeks of age, to coincide with vaccination or other stress.

- To make a solution of 2 g per 4 litres (500 mg/litre) mix the contents of this package with 200 litres (approximately 50 U.S. gallons or 40 Imperial gallons).

2. As an aid in the treatment of necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens in broiler chickens:

- Treat by way of the drinking water for 5 days at not less than 100 mg/litre (0.4 g per 4 litres) and not more than 150 mg/litre (0.6 g per 4 litres) depending on the severity of the necrotic enteritis outbreak.

- In order to provide not less than 100 mg/litre and not more than 150 mg/litre, make a solution of not less than 0.4 g per 4 litres (mix contents of package with 1000 litres or approximately 264 U.S. gallons or 220 Imperial gallons) and not more than 0.6 g per 4 litres (mix contents of package with 660 litres or approximately 175 U.S. gallons or 145 Imperial gallons).

Turkeys

As an aid in the treatment or for the prevention of infectious sinusitis:

- Treat by way of the drinking water for 3 days at 2 g per 4 litres (500 mg/litre); however, treatment may be administered for 2 to 5 days depending on the severity of infection.

- For the prevention of infectious sinusitis in turkeys:

TURKEYS should be treated for the first 5 days of life. Repeat treatment for 2 days at 4 weeks of age.

Prepare a fresh Tylan solution every 3 days.

Honey Bees

As an aid in the treatment of American Foulbrood (Paenibacillus larvae) in honey bees (Apis mellifera):

- Colonies should receive three treatments administered as a dust in confectioners/powdered sugar. The 200 mg dose is applied (dusted) over the top bars of the brood chamber once weekly for 3 weeks.

In all species: If improvement is not observed within 5 days, the diagnosis should be reconfirmed.

Medicated water should be the only source of drinking water during the treatment period.

Administering the appropriate therapeutic dose is important to maximize performance and avoid the development of resistance to this medication.

Tylan Soluble Cautions

Treatment with Tylan Soluble does not eradicate American Foulbrood disease, as the Paenibacillus larvae spores may still be present. The clinical signs of American Foulbrood disease may therefore be masked and consequently, there may be a risk of spreading the disease by the movement of infected materials between apiaries.

Tylan Soluble should be used only in honey bee colonies showing active signs of American Foulbrood disease.
