Warning

Do not use in lactating dairy cattle. Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food until 5 days after the latest treatment with this drug. Do not feed to laying hens.

Description

Tetracycline is rapidly absorbed and is effective in the treatment of many diseases caused by Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, spirochetes, rickettsia, and some chlamydia.

Active Ingredient

Each gram contains 250 mg of Tetracycline Hydrochloride USP.

Tetracycline 250 SP Indications

As an aid in the treatment of the infections caused by or associated with micro-organisms sensitive to Tetracycline Hydrochloride in chickens, turkeys, pigs, calves, sheep, and lambs.

Dosage & Administration

Chickens & Turkeys: Chronic Respiratory Disease (crd), Bluecomb, Cholera, Enteritis, And Hexamitiasis

1 g of Tetracycline 250 SP per 5 L of drinking water or 400 g (1 pouch) per 2000 L of drinking water for 3 to 5 days.

For Automatic Proportioner: Set the apparatus to distribute 30 mL per 4 L of drinking water (1 oz per US gallon). Prepare drinking stock solution by dissolving 400 g (1 pouch) in 7.5 L of water. This will medicate 2000 L of drinking water.

Swine: Enteritis (diarrhea) And Respiratory Diseases

1 g of Tetracycline 250 SP per 25 kg of body weight, given as a drench every 12 hours (two times daily) for 4 to 5 days using a dose syringe or 2 g of Tetracycline 250 SP per 4 L of drinking water or 400 g (1 pouch) per 800 L of drinking water for 4 to 5 days.

For Automatic Proportioner: Set the apparatus to 30 mL per 4 L of drinking water (1 oz per US gallon). Prepare the stock solution by dissolving 400 g (1 pouch) in 6 L of water. This will medicate 800 L of drinking water.

Calves: Scours

1 g of Tetracycline 250 SP per 50 kg of body weight in water is given as a drench every 12 hours (two times daily) for 3 to 5 days or 400 g (1 pouch) per 900 L of water for 3 to 5 days.

Calves: Respiratory Disease

Double above dosage.

Sheep And Lambs

1 g of Tetracycline 250 SP per 25 kg of body weight every 12 hours (two times daily), given as a drench in water for 4 to 5 days.

Note

Only medicated drinking water should be provided during the treatment period and fresh solutions should be prepared daily. 1 teaspoonful equals 4 grams.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool, dry place at room temperature 15 - 25°C. Protect from excessive heat and moisture.

If no improvement is noted within 3 to 4 days the diagnosis or treatment should be re-evaluated and a veterinarian consulted.
