SupraSulfa III Calf Bolus is indicated for the treatment of the following diseases: bacterial pneumonia associated with Pasteurella spp.; colibacillosis (bacterial scours) caused by Escherichia coli; calf diphtheria caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum; coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and E zuernii.

EACH BOLUS CONTAINS:

Dosage and Administration

To administer orally to ruminating beef and dairy calves at the rate of 165 mg/lb body weight on the first day of treatment. Each bolus will treat 50 lbs of body weight. The bolus is scored to allow breaking for more accurate dosing, however, it must not be crushed. If regurgitation occurs, clean regurgitated material and readminister, if this is not practical, administer a new bolus.

NOTE: SupraSulfa III® CALF BOLUS Boluses are designed to provide a therapeutic sulfamethazine level in approximately 6 hours, and persist in providing this level for 72 hours (3 days). After 72 hours, all animals should be re-examined for persistence of observable disease signs. If signs are present, consult a veterinarian. If signs of disease are significantly reduced, it is recommended that a second dose be given to provide an additional 72 hours of therapy. No further doses should be administered.

SupraSulfa III Calf Bolus Caution

This drug, like all sulfonamides, may cause toxic reactions and irreparable injury unless administered with adequate and continuous supervision. Follow the recommended dosages carefully. Fluid intake must be adequate at all times throughout the three day therapy provided by the sustained release bolus. If symptoms persist after using this preparation for 3 days, consult your veterinarian.

Warning

Do not use in female dairy cattle 20 months of age or older. Use of sulfamethazine in this class of cattle may cause milk residues. Do not use in calves under one (1) month of age or calves being fed an all milk diet. Use in these classes of calves may cause violative tissue residues to remain beyond the withdrawal time. Animals intended for human consumption must not be treated within 8 days of slaughtering.
