Description

Each Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) chewable tablet contains 50 mg of phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride. Phenylpropanolamine is an α- and β-adrenergic agonist that stimulates smooth muscle contraction of the internal urethral sphincter, increasing urethral sphincter tone and closure of the bladder neck. Reduced urethral sphincter tone may result in urinary incontinence, a condition seen in primarily in ovariohysterectomized bitches but also in aged, obese bitches and occasionally in neutered male or intact dogs.

Phenylpropanolamine Chewable Tablets (50 mg) Indications

PPA is indicated for the control of urinary incontinence caused by urethral sphincter incompetence in female dogs.
