Onycin 250 (Canada)

Warning

Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least 5 days after the latest treatment with this drug. This product must not be used in laying birds. Do not use in lactating dairy cattle.

Description

Tetracycline HCl is an antibiotic similar to oxytetracycline and chlortetracycline in bacterial spectrum. Tetracycline is rapidly absorbed and effective in the treatment of many diseases due to Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, spirochetes, rickettsia and some chlamydia.

Onycin 250 Indications

As an aid in the treatment of infections caused by or associated with microorganisms sensitive to tetracycline HCl.

Chickens And Turkeys

Chronic respiratory disease (CRD), bluecomb, cholera, enteritis and hexamitiasis.

Swine, Calves, Sheep And Lambs

Enteritis (diarrhea) and respiratory diseases.

Dosage

Chickens And Turkeys

400 g: Add 1 g of powder per 5 L of drinking water or 400 g (1 pouch) per 2000 L of drinking water, for 3 to 5 days.

10 kg: Add 1 g of powder per 5 L of drinking water or 100 g of powder per 500 L of drinking water, for 3 to 5 days.

For Automatic Proportioner

400 g: Set the apparatus to distribute 15 mL per 4 L of drinking water (1/2 oz/gallon U.S.). Prepare the stock solution by dissolving 400 g (1 pouch) in 7.5 L of water. This will medicate 2000 L of drinking water.

10 kg: Set the apparatus to distribute 30 mL per 4 L of water (1 oz/gallon U.S.). Prepare the stock solution by dissolving 100 g of powder in 4 L of water. This will medicate 500 L of drinking water.

Swine (scours And Respiratory Diseases)

400 g: Add in water 1 g of powder per 25 kg of body weight every 12 hours, given as a drench using a dose syringe or add 2 g of powder per 4 L of drinking water or 400 g (1 pouch) per 800 L of drinking water, for 4 or 5 days.

10 kg: Add in water 1 g of powder per 25 kg of body weight every 12 hours, given as a drench using a dose syringe or add 2 g of powder per 4 L of drinking water or 100 g of powder per 200 L of drinking water, for 4 or 5 days.

For Automatic Proportioner

Set the apparatus to distribute 30 mL per 4 L of drinking water (1 oz/gallon U.S.).

400 g: Prepare the stock solution by dissolving 400 g (1 pouch) in 6 L of water. This will medicate 800 L of drinking water.

10 kg: Prepare the stock solution by dissolving 200 g of powder in 3 L of water. This will medicate 400 L of drinking water.

Calves (scours)

400 g: Add in water 1 g of powder per 50 kg of body weight every 12 hours, given as a drench or add 400 g (1 pouch) per 900 L of drinking water, for 3 to 5 days.

10 kg: Add in water 1 g of powder per 50 kg of body weight every 12 hours, given as a drench or add 100 g of powder per 225 L of drinking water, for 3 to 5 days.

Calves (respiratory Diseases)

Double the above dosage.

Sheep And Lambs (scours And Respiratory Diseases)

Add in water 1 g of powder per 25 kg of body weight, given as a drench every 12 hours for 4 or 5 days.

Onycin 250 Caution

Medicated drinking water should be the only water provided during the treatment period and fresh solutions should be prepared daily.

Note

1 teaspoonful equals 4 g.

The measuring cup contained herein (10 kg), when filled with a level quantity provides approximately 100 g of product.

Storage Conditions

Store between 15 and 25°C. Protect from humidity.
