Swine Influenza Vaccine, H1n1 And H3n2, Killed Virus

maxivac Excell^® 5.0 Vaccine Is An Inactivated Vaccine Containing Three Strains Of Swine Influenza Virus Type A, Subtype H1n1, And Two Strains Of Swine Influenza Virus Type A, Subtype H3n2, In A Proprietary Dual-acting Adjuvant (emunade^®). The Product Is Indicated For Use In Healthy Pigs 5 Weeks Of Age Or Older As An Aid In The Control Of Disease Associated With Swine Influenza Virus Subtypes H1n1 And H3n2. The Vaccine Has Been Demonstrated To Reduce Pneumonia And Lung Infection Following Challenge.

dosage And Directions

Shake well. Using aseptic technique, inject 2 mL intramuscularly (IM) into healthy pigs at 5 weeks of age or older. Revaccinate with 2 mL 2-3 weeks after initial vaccination. Pigs nursing non-immune dams can be safely and effectively vaccinated at weaning. Pigs from immune dams should be vaccinated when maternal antibody levels will allow active immunization. Duration of immunity to H3N2 has been demonstrated by challenge to be at least two months following vaccination.

MaxiVac Excell 5.0 Caution

Store at 2°-7°C (35°-45°F). Do not freeze. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. If allergic response occurs, administer epinephrine. Contains gentamicin and thimerosal as preservatives.

Warning

Extreme caution should be used when injecting oil emulsion vaccines to avoid injecting fingers or hands. Accidental injection can cause serious local reaction. Contact a physician immediately if accidental injection occurs.
