Warning: Keep Out Of Reach Of Children

May be harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. Do not breathe in mist. Wear rubber gloves, goggles and protective clothing. In case of skin contact, wash immediately with soap and water. For eyes, flush with a large amount of water. Wash all contaminated clothing with soap and hot water before re-use. Do not store neat heat or open flame.

Directions For Use

Pour-on Method

Dilute one volume of Louse Kill with five volumes of water and stir vigorously.

One volume of Louse Kill makes 6 volumes of pour-on solution. 6 litres of diluted mixture will treat:

Cattle Lice

Apply 60 mL (2 oz) of the freshly diluted mixture per 100 kg of body weight (to a maximum of 230 mL or 7.7 oz per head) down the centre line of the animal's back. Cattle may become reinfested 3 weeks after treatment.

Hog Lice

Apply 60 mL (2 oz) of the freshly diluted mixture per 100 kg of body weight down the centre line of the animal's back. Re-treat as necessary but no more frequently than every 7 days.

Hog Mange

Apply 60 mL (2 oz) of the freshly diluted mixture per 100 kg of body weight down the centre line of the animal's back. A second application 14 days later may be necessary.

Spray Method

Dilute one volume of Louse Kill with 100 volumes of water and stir vigorously.

Cattle Lice

Apply the fresh mixture as a high-pressure spray directly to wet the skin (not just the hair) of each animal to `run-off'. Use about 3.5 L of the diluted spray per adult animal. Lesser amounts will permit run-off for younger animals. Spray entire body, giving particular attention to lice infested areas. Cattle may become re-infested 5 weeks after treatment.

Hornflies

Apply the fresh mixture as a high-pressure spray directly to wet the skin (not just the hair) of each animal to `run-off'. Use about 3.5 L of the diluted spray per adult animal. Lesser amounts will permit `run-off' for younger animals. Re-treat as necessary but no more frequently than every 7 days.

Hog Lice

Apply the fresh mixture as a high-pressure spray directly to wet the skin (not just the hair) of each animal to `run-off'. Use about 1 L of the diluted spray per adult animal. Lesser amounts will permit run-off for younger animals. Re-treat as necessary but no more than every 7 days.

Notes

Do not use on lactating cattle. Do not apply within 7 days of slaughter. Do not use this product on cattle which are likely to be infested with grubs as a host-parasite reaction may occur. Symptoms of host-parasite reactions usually appear 24 to 96 hours after treatment and include staggering, or rarely posterior paralysis, salivation, or bloat. Consult your veterinarian should these symptoms occur. Atropine is contraindicated. Solvent irritation may occur in sensitive skinned animals, symptoms are increased activity, a repeated getting up and down, tail swishing,k and a twitching of the skin. Symptoms occur within 5 to 15 minutes after treatment and subside within one hour without complication.

Atropine Is Contraindicated.

Dandruff may appear on treated areas which may be a blemish in show animals.

First Aid

1. Keep airways open. Use artificial respiration if necessary.

2. If ingested and patient is conscious, induce vomiting. Do not induce vomiting if patient is unconscious or in a convulsive state.

3. Call a physician or poison control centre immediately.

4. Wash skin of material and vomitus.

5. Save suspected agent and vomitus if container is available, for disposal by physician.

6. Take container, label or product name and Pest Control Product Registration Number with you when seeking medical attention.

7. In case of contact with skin, wash immediately with soap and water. If in eyes, flush immediately with water.

Toxicological Information

Phosmet is an organophosphorous insecticide. Atropine is antidotal for poisoning in man and animal. Usual symptoms of organophosphorous poisoning in man include: headache, blurred vision, weakness, nausea, discomfort in the chest, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, salivation, sweating, pinpoint pupils. Symptoms of organophosphorous poisoning in animal usually occur within 30 to 60 minutes after application. These may include: salivation, pinpoint pupils, laboured breathing, stiffness, muscle tremors, ataxia and mild bloating.

Precautions

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Phosmet is a cholinesterase inhibitor. Do not use this product on animals simultaneously or within seven days before or after treatment with or exposure to cholinesterase inhibiting drugs, pesticides or chemicals. Do not treat sick, stressed or debilitated animals. Do not treat calves under 3 months of age. Consult your veterinarian for treatment of sick animals.

Do not apply within 7 days of slaughter. Do not retreat within 7 days. Do not treat dairy animals. Do not contaminate feed or foodstuffs. Avoid spray drift to adjoining food and forage crops. Keep out of streams, ponds and other fish-bearing waters.

This product contains a petroleum distillate which is moderately to highly toxic to aquatic organisms. Avoid contamination of aquatic systems during application. Do not contaminate these systems through direct application, disposal of waste or cleaning equipment.

Storage And Disposal

Storage

Store in cool, dry and ventilated area, away from humans, pets, foodstuffs, feed and fertilizers. Do not store near heat or open flame. Protect from freezing.

Disposal

1. Triple- or pressure rinse the empty container. Add the rinsings to the spray mixture in the tank. 2. Follow provincial instruction for any required additional cleaning of the container prior to its disposal. 3. Make the empty container unsuitable for further use. 4. Dispose of the container in accordance with provincial requirements. 5. For information on disposal of unused, unwanted product, contact the manufacturer or the provincial regulatory agency. Contact the manufacturer and the provincial regulatory agency in case of a spill, and for clean-up of spills.

This control product is to be used only in accordance with the directions on this label. It is an offence under the Pest Control Products Act to use a control product under unsafe conditions.
