This treatment applies to the following species:Salmonella Enteritidis Bacterin
Layermune SE Indications
This bacterin is recommended for use in healthy chickens at least 12 weeks of age as an aid in the reduction of Salmonella enteritidis colonization of the internal organs, including the reproductive tract, and the intestine. Vaccination of breeder pullets should be in accordance with provisions established by the National Poultry Improvement Plan. To prevent interference with pullorum-typhoid feeding, do not vaccinate birds that are to be tested for pullorum-typhoid until testing is complete.A repeat vaccination is recommended 4 to 6 weeks later. Revaccination prior to molt is recommended.
Dosage And Directions
The dose is 0.5 ml (1000 doses) or 0.25 ml (2000 doses) per bird and is administered by the subcutaneous route using a 1/4 to 1/2 inch needle. The preferred site is under the skin on the back of the neck midway between the head and body and in a direction away from the head. Do not inject near the head. Do not inject into muscle tissue or neck vertebrae. Prior to use, warm the bacterin to 85-90°F (29-32°C). Shake the bacterin well before and during use. Use aseptic technique.Warning
Do not vaccinate within 42 days before slaughter. Post vaccination reactions may occur and may include swelling or granulomas at the injection site. Also, due to the stress of handling or moving birds, vaccination of hens in lay may result in a drop in egg production.Notice
This bacterin has undergone rigid purity, sterility, potency and safety tests and meets Biomune and USDA requirements. However, the user is advised that response to vaccination depends on numerous factors including, but not limited to, storage, handling, aseptic technique and the health and responsiveness of individual chickens.Layermune SE Caution
