Salmonella Enteritidis Bacterin

Recommendations

This bacterin is recommended for use in healthy chickens as an aid in the reduction of Salmonella enteritidis colonization of the internal organs, including the reproductive tract, and the intestine. Layermune SE contains selected isolates of Salmonella enteritidis which are inactivated and suspended in an oil emulsion. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency recommends use of this product only for the vaccination of replacement pullets on premises with a history of Salmonella enteritidis contamination. To prevent interference with pullorum-typhoid testing, do not vaccinate birds that are to be tested for pullorum-typhoid until testing is complete.

Dosage And Directions

Vaccinate chickens 12 weeks of age or older with 0.25ml (1/4cc) per bird. A repeat vaccination of Salmonella enteritidis bacteria is recommended 4 to 6 weeks later. The bacterin should only be subcutaneously administered in the mid to lower portion of the neck in a direction away from the head. Do not inject into muscle or vertebrae. Revaccination prior to molt is recommended.

Warning

Do not vaccinate within 42 days before slaughter. Post vaccination reactions may occur at the site of injection and include swelling or granulomas. Due to the stress of handling or moving birds, vaccination of hens in lay may result in a drop in egg production.

Accidental injection of the bacterin into a human may cause a serious localized reaction. Seek expert medical attention immediately.

Do Not Freeze. Store At 2-7°c (35-45°f). Warm To Room Temperature And Shake Before And During Use. Use Entire Contents When First Opened.
