This treatment applies to the following species:JorVet J-326 Potassium Hydroxide, KOH (10%) Indications
Aids in the detection of dematophyte infections. Allows visualization of fungal structures such as hyphae and con idida.Directions For Use
1. Material is collected as for a skin scraping, together with plucked hairs or nails, and deposited on a slide.
2. Several drops of KOH solution are applied to the slide and a coverslip is added.
3. Next, the slide is either gently heated for 20 seconds or allowed to stand for 30 minutes at room temperature.
4. Only a really thin layer of hair should be placed on a slide. Several layers of hair will make fungal parts even more difficult to see.
