Lugol's iodine identifies hard to find protozoan (i.e. giardia) and helminth intestinal parasites. Lugol's iodine makes nuclear structures of protozoan cysts more evident and heavily stains glycogen masses. The Lugol's iodine stain can be used on fresh fecal mounts i.e. for looking for giardan trophozoites, or on fecal flotation for giardia cysts. Other suggested uses are:1. Toxoplasma
2. Coccidia
3. Cryptospordium
4. Helminth (i.e. ascarids or hookworms)
Directions For Use
1. Add 3 drops of Lugol's stain to either the fresh mount or fecal floatation.
2. Stain will appear light-orange when absorbed up by the parasite.
