Aeromonas Salmonicida Bacterin

For Veterinary Use Only

For the vaccination of healthy Koi carp (Cyprinus carpio) as an aid in the prevention of carp erythrodermatitis (ulcer disease) caused by atypical Aeromonas salmonicida subspecies nova. This bacterin contains only formalin inactivated cultures of Aeromonas salmonicida and has been shown to be safe and effective when administered by immersion to Koi carp (Cyprinus carpio) greater than or equal to 3.0 grams.

Vaccination Program

First vaccination should precede exposure of vaccinates to the disease agent by 800 degree days (number of days multiplied by the mean water temperature (°C) during period). A booster immersion vaccination is administered at not less than 14 days and not greater than 30 days following the first vaccination. Revaccination is also recommended biannually for long term holding of Koi carp. Shake well before using. To vaccinate fish, dilute entire contents of this container with 38 oz. (1,125 mL) of clean rearing water. Measure diluted bacterin in a suitable plastic container. Add fish to attain a density of 500 grams per litre of diluted bacterin. Expose fish for 60 seconds, then remove fish from bacterin solution. Return fish to holding facility. Diluted bacterin may be used up to 20 dips before discarding.
