Active Ingredient(s)

FERVAC®-D is a modified live vaccine consisting of a freeze-dried distemper virus and sterile diluent. Contains gentamicin as a preservative.

Fervac-D Indications

The vaccine is for use as an aid in the prevention of distemper in healthy, susceptible ferrets.

Fervac-D Dosage And Administration

Mixing of the Vaccine:

1. Do not mix the vaccine until ready for use.

2. Mix only one (1) pair of vials at a time, and use the entire contents within two (2) hours.

3. Disinfect the rubber stoppers with alcohol.

4. Using a sterile syringe and needle, transfer the diluent into the bottle of freeze-dried vaccine.

5. After all the diluent has been transferred, shake gently to suspend evenly.

Inject 1 mL subcutaneously. The initial dose is given at eight (8) weeks of age. Repeat the dose at 11 weeks of age and give a final dose at 14 weeks of age. Give the booster annually.

Precaution(s)

Store at 35° to 45°F (2° to 7°C).

Fervac-D Caution(s)

1. Burn the empty containers and any unused portion of the vaccine.

2. Incubating diseases (such as Aleutian disease), parasites, nutritional deficiencies (anemia), maternal antibodies and poor management practices (dehydration, adverse temperatures) will reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.

3. Animals infected, yet not showing signs of distemper at the time of vaccination, will not be protected by the vaccine.

4. The use of any biological may produce anaphylactic reactions.

5. For veterinary use only.

Antidote(s)

Epinephrine.

10 x 1 dose vials of vaccine and 10 x 1 mL vials of diluent.
50 dose vial of vaccine and diluent.
