This treatment applies to the following species:
Manufacturer: First Companion

Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia Vaccine
Modified Live & Killed Virus

For Use in Cats Only

This package contains one (1 dose) vial of dry vaccine, one (1 mL) vial of liquid diluent and one disposable syringe.

Feline Imuno-Vax 3 is a combination of modified live Feline Rhinotracheitis and Calici viruses with inactivated Panleukopenia virus vaccine recommended for use in the vaccination of healthy cats against disease caused by the organisms represented. All fractions are subjected to tests for potency and safety prior to release for market.

Directions

Aseptically rehydrate vial of desiccated antigens by injecting the liquid product into the vial containing the vaccine cake. Shake well. Remove the entire contents back into the syringe. Push out any air trapped in the syringe. Administer entire contents (1 ml) subcutaneously under loose skin (back of neck). Do not vaccinate into blood vessels. If blood enters the syringe, choose another injection site.

Persistence of maternal origin antibody in kittens is known to interfere with development of active immunity following vaccination. Present indications are that Rhinotracheitis and Calicivirus antibodies of maternal origin endure in kittens for approximately 8 weeks. Panleukopenia antibody somewhat longer - up to 13 weeks. Ideally, kittens should be vaccinated at 9 weeks of age with revaccination 3-4 weeks later. Adult cats should receive a 1 ml dose followed by a second dose 3-4 weeks later. Annual revaccination with a single 1 ml dose is recommended.

Precautions

Do not freeze. Use entire contents when first rehydrated. Do not vaccinate pregnant queens. Burn these containers, including syringe and needle. An occasional animal may demonstrate a transient fever, and mild arthralgia and/or myalgia within the first week following vaccination. In case of anaphylactoid reactions, epinephrine should be administered immediately. This product contains gentamicin and amphotericin B as preservatives.
