Edwardsiella ictaluri Bacterin

Oral Bacterin

For veterinary use only

For the oral vaccination of healthy catfish as an aid in the prevention of enteric septicemia of catfish (ESC).

This bacterin contains formalin inactivated cultures of Edwardsiella ictaluri. No other preservative is added.

The bacterin is safe and effective for use with fingerling or larger ictalurids.

Instructions For Feed Mills

Feed mill must be FDA registered. During milling process maintain pH between 4.0 and 5.5 and maintain temperature between 155 and 175°F.

Incorporate at the rate of 1% which is the equivalent of 20 pounds of bacterin per ton of fish food.

Vaccination Program

Feed containing Edwardsiella ictaluri Bacterin is fed for 2 periods of 5 consecutive days with a minimum of 10 days between periods. Feed at a rate equal to 4% body weight to provide a minimum intake of 4 lb/100 lb fish daily. Feed containing Edwardsiella ictaluri Bacterin should be fed 15 to 30 days prior to an expected ESC outbreak, which generally occurs when water temperatures are in the range of 72° - 85°F.

Dosage

4,000 pounds of Edwardsiella ictaluri Bacterin treated feed can be made with the contents of this container.

Escogen Caution

1. Use bacterin before expiry date indicated.

2. Use entire contents once opened.

3. Store at 35 - 45°F under dry conditions.

4. Do not slaughter fish within 21 days following the final feeding of Edwardsiella ictaluri Bacterin treated food.
