Esbilac Powder Indications

Milk replacer for puppies. Food supplement for dogs. Simulates mother's milk for squirrels, ferrets and opossums.

ESBILAC® Emergency Pack: Milk replacer, food supplement. Simulates mother's milk for the rabbit, opossum, guinea pig, squirrel, beaver, chipmunk, ferret and puppy.

Directions For Use

Directions for Mixing ESBILAC® Powder: Gently stir or shake 1 part powdered ESBILAC® into 2 parts warm water (a part is a teaspoon, tablespoon or cup). Do not mix more ESBILAC® than can be consumed in 24 hours. Do not use a blender. Reconstituted ESBILAC® should be kept refrigerated.

Directions for Feeding: All puppies should receive their mother's milk for at least 2 days, if possible. This colostrum milk gives extra nutrition and temporary immunity against some diseases. Warm reconstituted ESBILAC® to room or body temperature. Feed puppies 2 tablespoons (30 mL) per 4 ounces (115 g) of body weight. The daily feeding amount should be divided into equal portions for each feeding. Puppies' needs will vary and this amount may have to be increased or decreased depending on the individual. Young and/or weak puppies should be fed every 3 to 4 hours. Older puppies can do well being fed every 8 hours. Weigh the puppies 3 times per week to assure adequate feeding.

Consult your veterinarian for additional advice.

PetAg offers a 2 oz or 4 oz small animal nurser suited for feeding most puppies. When puppies are old enough to lap, begin offering reconstituted ESBILAC® in a shallow container. During the 3rd or 4th week mix reconstituted ESBILAC® with Esbilac® 2nd Step™ Puppy Weaning Food. This will allow the puppy to gradually switch to solid food.

Pregnant and Lactating bitches: Mix powdered ESBILAC® into the daily food ration at the rate of 2 teaspoons per 5 lb (2.2 kg) body weight until two weeks after whelping.

ESBILAC® Powder Freezing Instructions: ESBILAC® Powder may be frozen for six months after opening (in powder form). Seal well before freezing. Reconstituted ESBILAC® may be frozen to preserve it past the 24 hours of refrigerated storage. It is best to freeze using the instructions given below.

1. Pour individual or daily serving amounts into each section of an ice cube tray. The small party size is great for small puppies, while the larger size is good for larger puppies.

2. Place the tray in the freezer and freeze until solid. Note: The product will turn brown when frozen, but will return to its normal creamy color when thawed.

3. Remove the cubes from the tray and place in a heavy plastic bag or sealed plastic container.

4. If kept frozen and sealed, the product is good for up to six weeks.

5. To use - remove the required number of cubes and thaw in the refrigerator, in warm water, or in the microwave. If the microwave is used, be careful not to overheat.

Esbilac® Ice Cream: It is simple and easy to make your puppy or dog a treat that will leave them beggin' for more following the instructions given below.

Pour 3/4 cup ESBILAC® powder and 1 cup water, shake vigorously. Pour into tray and freeze until firm. Two or three teaspoons of vanilla pudding or canned food may be added for flavor.
