Butasone 400 Indications

Horses

As oral therapy in the treatment of arthritis, myositis, inflammation and rheumatism.

Dosage

Note: One (1) level tablespoon contains approximately 10 g of powder containing 1 g of phenylbutazone.

Horses: 2 to 4 g of Phenylbutazone per 454 kg of body weight daily in at least 2 divided doses. Daily dosage should not exceed 4 g. As symptoms regress, the dosage should be reduced to a level that will hold the conditions in check. In some cases, treatment should be given only when symptoms appear with no need for continuous medication. If there is no significant clinical effect in 5 days, a re-evaluation of the diagnosis and treatment should be made.

Butasone 400 Caution

Medication must be discontinued if signs of gastro-intestinal upset or blood dyscrasia appear.

Warning

Treated horses must not be slaughtered for use in food.

Contra-indications

Phenylbutazone is not recommended in horses showing evidence of cardiac, renal or hepatic insufficiency.
