If birds are vaccinated under the recommended age limit, revaccination is required. This product is also used in replacement birds before 16 weeks of age that were previously vaccinated. This vaccine will stimulate protective antibodies in susceptible birds. However, the duration of immunity resulting from the use of this vaccine is not permanent, therefore, revaccinations are necessary.
Consult your poultry pathologist for recommendations on revaccination based on conditions existing in your area at any given time.
AviPro Visota Dosage And Administration
Preparation of Vaccine for Intranasal and Intraocular Use: Remove aluminum overseal and stopper from the vaccine bottle and pour part of the diluent into the bottle. Shake well and pour the vaccine back into the remaining diluent and place the dropper tip on the diluent bottle. The vaccine is now ready for intranasal or intraocular use.Method of Vaccination: The vaccine may be administered by way of the nostril (intranasally) or the eye (intraocularly). When the vaccine is administered by way of the nostril, the chick's beak is held shut, a finger is placed over one nostril and a drop of vaccine, from the special applicator, is dropped into the other nostril.
When used intraocularly, birds are held on their side and one drop of the mixed vaccine allowed to fall into the open eye. Bird should be held until the drop of vaccine disappears. Care must be taken to prevent injury to the cornea of the eye with the dropper tip.
Preparation of Vaccine for Aerosol Use: Remove the aluminum overseal and stopper from the vaccine bottle and pour part of the diluent into the bottle. Shake well and pour the vaccine back into the remaining diluent. Pour the entire contents into the reservoir of a sprayer containing 70 mL of deionized water or 5 mL of glycerine and 65 mL of deionized water. Before the vaccination the sprayer should be calibrated so that 100 mL will be delivered in 3 minutes.
Method of Vaccination: Confine the birds to a corner of the house with fences and direct the stream from the sprayer over the heads of the birds. Extreme caution should be taken to prevent birds from smothering during this operation.
1,000 Doses and 2,500 Doses: Preparation of Vaccine for Drinking Water Use: Remove the aluminum overseal and stopper and add clean non-sanitized water. Replace the stopper and shake well. Pour the contents into a quart jar 3/4 full of non-sanitized water. Shake well and dilute the vaccine for 1,000 doses or 2,500 doses as the case may be as outlined in the chart below. A dried skim milk powder should be used as a vaccine stabilizer at the rate of 8.0 grams per gallon of water. The powdered milk is added prior to the reconstitution of the vaccine.
Method of Vaccination: Withhold all medication and disinfectants from the drinking water 24 hours before and 24 hours after vaccinating. Rinse waterers with clean non-sanitized water and remove all water from chicks for at least two hours prior to vaccination. Provide adequate space so that at least two-thirds of the birds can drink at one time.
