This treatment applies to the following species:
Manufacturer: L.A.H.I.

Directions For Use

Recommendations for use: This product is manufactured from SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) eggs and is a combination live virus vaccine of chicken embryo origin for initial vaccination and revaccination of chickens as an aid in the prevention of infectious bronchitis, Mass. type and Newcastle disease.

The virus strains in this product are the Massachusetts type, Holland strain-high egg passages of bronchitis virus and the B1 type, LaSota strain of Newcastle disease virus.

Initial vaccination is administered to chickens at 5 weeks of age in the drinking water or at 6 weeks of age by aerosol.

Parental immunity and immunological incompetence are major factors in preventing young chickens from developing immunity. The duration of immunity resulting from vaccination is also directly related to the age of the chickens and their susceptibility.

The most satisfactory vaccination schedule may vary from one area to another, depending on such factors as the incidence of disease and concentration of poultry flocks. The following vaccination schedule would be applicable to most areas but may be tailored to local conditions.

Preparation of vaccine and method of vaccination for coarse spray use - 2500, 10 000  doses:

Rehydrate with cool distilled water in an amount sufficient to vaccinate the required number of birds according to the directions of the spray cabinet or field spray manufacturer. Field spray application should be used only in houses that can be tightly closed. Close all windows, doors, ventilators, etc. and turn off fans. Spray each 1000 doses of vaccine directly into the faces of 1,000 birds. Leave house closed for at least 15 minutes after spraying. Always use eye goggles and a respirator.

Preparation of vaccine for drinking water use - 2500, 10 000 doses:

Remove the aluminum overseal and stopper and add clean non-sanitized water to the vaccine vial. Replace the stopper and shake well. Pour the contents into a container of non-sanitized water. Shake well and dilute the vaccine as outlined in the chart below. A dried skim milk powder should be added at the rate of 2.1 grams per liter of water to the water used for the final dilution.

Method of vaccination: Withhold all medication and disinfectants from the drinking water 24 hours before and 24 hours after vaccination. Rinse waterers with clean non-sanitized water and remove all water from chicks for at least two hours prior to vaccination. Provide adequate space so that at least two-thirds of the birds can drink at one time. Add mixture to water as per following chart:

Age of Birds

Amount of water per 1000 doses

Meat Type Birds

Layer Type Birds

5 weeks - 8 weeks

9 weeks - 15 weeks

16 weeks - 20 weeks

Divide the mixed vaccine into the waterers.

Provide no other drinking water until all vaccine has been consumed.

Store vaccine between 2°-7°C.

If there are susceptible laying birds on the premises there is the possibility that the virus might spread from the vaccinated to the susceptible birds and affect egg production.

Vaccinate only healthy birds.

Use entire contents when a vial is first opened.

Dispose of these containers and all unused contents according to local biohazardous waste regulations.

Keep permanent vaccination records including vaccine serial number.

Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.

The use of this vaccine is subject to local laws wherever applicable.

The vaccine contains Gentamicin as a preservative.

Newcastle disease virus can cause an inflammation of the eyes and eyelids of humans; caution should be used not to allow the vaccine to come in contact with the eyes.

This vaccine was carefully produced and passed all tests for purity and potency according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
