FOWL LARYNGOTRACHEITIS VACCINE
Directions For Use
FOR VETERINARY USE ONLY
Recommendations for use: This product is a live virus vaccine of chicken embryo origin manufactured from SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) eggs for administration to chickens as an aid in the prevention of Laryngotracheitis. When administered to susceptible birds, a mild form of the disease results, which stimulates immunity.
Parental immunity and immunological incompetence is a major factor in preventing young birds from developing immunity. When this vaccine is administered, the duration of immunity resulting from vaccination is directly related to the age of the birds and their susceptibility at the time this vaccine is administered.
The duration of immunity resulting from the use of this vaccine is not permanent, therefore, revaccinations may be necessary.
Direction for use: It is recommended that chickens be at least 5 weeks of age when vaccinated. The older the chickens at time of vaccination, the more effective the vaccine will be. In the event of a natural outbreak of Laryngotracheitis on a farm, this vaccine should be used immediately to help stop the outbreak. Unaffected chickens on the farm should be vaccinated first followed by the pen of chickens in which the outbreak occurred. Vaccinate healthy chickens only. If there are susceptible laying chickens on the premises there is the possibility that the virus might spread from the vaccinated to the susceptible chickens and affect egg production.
Preparation of vaccine for intranasal and intraocular use:
1000 Dose - Rehydrate to 30 ml
Remove the aluminum overseal and stopper from the vaccine bottle and pour part of the diluent into the bottle. Shake well and pour the vaccine back into the remaining diluent and place the dropper tip on the diluent bottle. The vaccine is now ready for intranasal or intraocular use.
Method of vaccination: The vaccine may be administered by way of the nostril (intranasal) or the eye (intraocular). When the vaccine is administered by the way of the nostril, the chick’s beak is held shut, a finger is placed over one nostril and a drop of vaccine from the special applicator, is dropped into the other nostril.
When used intraocularly, birds should be held on their side and one drop of the mixed vaccine should be allowed to fall into the open eye.
Birds should be held until the drop of vaccine disappears. Care must be taken to prevent injury to the cornea of the eye with the dropper tip.
Coarse spray method:
1000, 2000, 2500, 5000, 10 000 Doses
Rehydrate with cool distilled water in an amount sufficient to vaccinate the required number of chickens according to the directions of the field spray manufacturer. Field spray applications should be used only in houses that can be tightly closed. Close all windows, doors, ventilators, etc. and turn off fans. Spray each 1000 doses of vaccine directly into the faces of 1000 birds. Leave house closed for at least 15 minutes after spraying. Always use eye goggles and a respirator.
WarningIt is imperative that the use of this product comply with the “Recommendations for use”, “Direction for use” and “Method of vaccination” stated in this direction sheet. The vaccine must be prepared and administered as directed to obtain best results. Care should be taken to avoid contaminating your hands, eyes and clothing with the vaccine. No vaccine confers immediate protection. While immunity begins to develop immediately the chickens should not be placed in contaminated premises or otherwise exposed to Laryngotracheitis. All susceptible chickens on any farm should be vaccinated at the same time.
StorageStore vaccine between 2°-7°C (35°-45°F).
