Ingredients: Dipotassium phosphate, potassium sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium lactate, magnesium gluconate, citric acid, glycine, zinc methionine, manganese methionine, vitamin A acetate (stability improved), D-activated animal sterol (source of vitamin D3), dl-alpha tocopheryl acetate (source of vitamin E activity), choline bitartrate, niacin supplement, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), d-pantothenic acid, riboflavin supplement, pyridoxine HCl, thiamine HCl, folic acid, d-biotin, menadione dimethylpyrimidinol bisulfite (source of vitamin K activity), vitamin B12 supplement, and FD&C certified color added.

Avian Bluelite Indications

A concentrated source of buffered electrolytes and vitamins on a palatable, acidified, readily soluble carrier intended for use in chicks, broilers, layers, turkeys, ducks, geese and game birds as an aid in reducing dehydration (shrink), as a result of hot weather, handling, moving, or when starting recently hatched birds.

Dosage and Administration

Administer AVIAN BLUELITE® in the drinking water or feed for five (5) to seven (7) days in one of the following ways:

I. Water Administration:

A. Stock Solution: In birds with severe dehydration, mix and dissolve one (1) packet (1 lb.) of AVIAN BLUELITE® in one (1) gallon of stock solution and administer 1 oz. of stock solution to each gallon of drinking water. The dosage can be reduced in half for birds with signs of mild dehydration.

B. Waterer or Fountain: For holding tank use, mix 1 oz. (approximately 2 heaping tablespoons) of AVIAN BLUELITE® to each eight (8) gallons of drinking water or one (1) packet (1 lb.) of AVIAN BLUELITE® to each 128 gallons of drinking water for birds with severe signs of dehydration. The dosage can be reduced in half for birds with signs of mild dehydration.

II. Feed Administration: Mix two (2) packets of AVIAN BLUELITE® per ton of complete feed.

Precaution(s): Store in a dry room at temperatures between 40°-86°F (4°C-30°C). Unused bag portions should be resealed with tape or binders.

Caution(s): For exclusive use in water or feed, intended for the avian species.

Keep out of the reach of children.

Birds showing symptoms of severe depression, coma or those that are too weak and dehydrated to drink normally should be treated as directed by a veterinarian and under the observation of a veterinarian and designated poultry service person. Provide fresh feed and water on a free-choice basis at all times.

Trial Data: AVIAN BLUELITE® has been field tested in geese, ducks, and game birds under farm-field conditions and in trials at the University of Minnesota under veterinary supervision to evaluate the potential benefits of AVIAN BLUELITE® as a rehydration drinking water additive for turkeys and chickens. In the university trials, young chicks and turkey poults were stressed with systemic infections or were deprived of feed and water for 48 hours to determine their response to AVIAN BLUELITE® in minimizing dehydration, morbidity and mortality. Chicks and poults were individually weighed throughout the trial period to determine and evaluate the responses of the AVIAN BLUELITE® in regard to total body weight, average body weight and individual size variation in the trials.

Chick Trial - Feed and Water Deprivation: In a trial to determine the potential value of AVIAN BLUELITE® in starting baby chicks that might be deprived of feed and water for a period of time after hatching, 80 broiler chicks were divided into two groups and subjected to total feed and water deprivation for 48 hours. The results of this trial indicated that AVIAN BLUELITE® helped reduce the losses of dehydration or body weight when feed and water were withheld for a period of time.

Note: Group I chicks had a mortality of three birds at two weeks of age and Group II had one bird die during the two-week trial. Group II birds were slightly heavier and showed significantly less size variation in their range of body weight at two weeks of age.

Chick Trial with Systemic Infection: Two hundred broiler chicks were divided into four groups of 50 birds. All birds were fed a medicated prestarter containing 500 g of chlortetracycline per ton. Chicks in Groups III and IV were injected subcutaneously in the cervical region with viable Salmonella arizoniae (106) bacteria shortly after hatching. The body weight rehydration response with AVIAN BLUELITE® in this trial was as follows:

Note: Birds in Groups III and IV showed good evidence of systemic infection as compared to birds in Groups I and II, as illustrated by their lower body weight. Group IV birds showed improved body weights and less size variation in body weight than Group III.

Turkey and Poult Trial - Feed and Water Deprivation: In a trial to determine the potential value of AVIAN BLUELITE® in starting male turkey poults, 100 young poults were divided into two groups and deprived of water and feed for 48 hours immediately after hatching. The results of this trial indicate that AVIAN BLUELITE® will help reduce variability of body weight or dehydration under many brooding conditions.

Trial Conclusions: AVIAN BLUELITE® has been evaluated and tested under a variety of university and field conditions. When used as directed, it will reduce losses of body weight or dehydration associated with systemic infections as shown in these trials. AVIAN BLUELITE® is for use when brooding or starting birds after hatching. Its rehydration action helps reduce stunting or the incidence of peewees as shown by its efficacy in reducing the variability of body size when starting birds that do not receive feed or water within 24-48 hours after hatching.

AVIAN BLUELITE® is readily consumed and highly soluble in both stock solutions for medicators and in holding tanks and waterers. Its broad formulation of electrolytes, vitamins and buffered acidified action makes it ideal for use under a wide variety of field conditions.
