FOR USE IN BROILER CHICKEN AND TURKEY FEEDS

Avatec 20 Medicated Premix Indications

A. As an aid in the prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria necatrix, E. tenella, E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. mitis and E. maxima in broiler chickens.

B. As an aid in the prevention of coccidiosis caused by E. adenoeides, E. meleagrimitis and E. gallopavonis in growing turkeys.

Directions For Use

Indication A. As an aid in the prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria necatrix, E. tenella, E. acervulina, E. brunetti, E. mitis and E. maxima in broiler chickens.

Mixing Directions

Thoroughly mix 525 g (0.525 kg) of Avatec® 20 medicated premix in one tonne (1,000 kg) of feed to provide 105 mg of lasalocid sodium per kg of complete feed. It is recommended that Avatec® 20 be mixed with a small quantity of the feed ingredients before it is incorporated into the batch of the feed being prepared.

Good manufacturing procedures should be followed at all times to avoid accidental contamination of any feed by lasalocid and to ensure a homogenous distribution in the diet.

Feed Directions

Feed continuously as the sole ration.

Indications B. As an aid in the prevention of coccidiosis caused by E. adenoeides, E. meleagrimitis and E. gallopavonis in growing turkeys.

Mixing Directions

Thoroughly mix 500 g (0.500 kg) of Avatec® 20 Medicated Premix in one tonne (1,000 kg) of feed to provide 100 mg of lasalocid sodium per kg of complete feed.

Feed Directions

Feed continuously as the sole ration from day one (1) for sixteen (16) weeks for males and fourteen (14) weeks for females.

Cautions

1. Do not use this medicated feed for treatment of outbreaks of coccidiosis.

2. Consult a veterinarian or poultry pathologist if losses exceed 0.5% in a two-day period.

3. Compatible with bentonite, lignin sulfonate, and PEL-AID (Uniscope Inc.) when used as pellet binding agents (required on premix and supplement labels only).

4. Do not allow horses or other equines access to lasalocid sodium as ingestion may be fatal (required on premix and supplement labels only).

Warnings

1. No withdrawal period is required for broiler chickens and turkeys when treated according to the label.

2. Do not feed to replacement, breeding and laying chickens and turkeys.

3. Keep out of reach of children.

Free Choice Mineral

1. Avatec® 20 Medicated Premix may be used in the manufacture of medicated mineral mixes.

Mixing Directions

Thoroughly mix 8.0 kg of Avatec® 20 Medicated Premix to 992 kg of mineral mixes to provide 1,600 mg lasalocid sodium per kg of medicated mineral mix.

Feeding Directions

Avatec® 20 medicated mineral mixes should be fed free-choice continuously from the beginning to the end of the pasture season. Aim for a consumption rate of 125 g medicated mineral mix per head per day which will provide the recommended dose of 200 mg lasalocid sodium/animal/day. Increase the distance of the medicated mineral mix from the water source to decrease consumption of the mineral mix, and vice versa.

2. Avatec® 20 Medicated Premix may be used in the manufacture of medicated feed blocks.

Mixing Directions

Thoroughly mix 1.0 kg of Avatec® 20 Medicated Premix to 999 kg of feed block ingredients to provide 200 mg of lasalocid sodium per kg of medicated feed block.

Feeding Directions:

A feed block with Avatec® 20 should be fed free-choice continuously from the beginning to the end of the pasture season. Aim for a consumption rate of 1.0 kg of the medicated feed block per head per day which will provide the recommended dosage of 200 mg lasalocid sodium per animal per day.

● Introduce a 1:1 or 2:1 (Ca:P) free-choice mineral with salt two weeks before introducing a feed block with Avatec® 20. Ensure cattle have consumed roughage before introducing a feed block for the first time.

● If cattle run out of feed block with Avatec® 20, observe intake closely for three days after replacing the block, to prevent over consumption.

● If consumption is too low, bring blocks closer to the watering and resting areas. In large pastures, blocks should be available in more than one location.

● If consumption is higher than desired, move blocks further away from the watering and resting areas, and/or reduce the number of blocks available to cattle.

Expiry Date

Expiration of the feed block with Avatec® 20 is 6 months from date of manufacture.

Indications C. As an aid in the prevention of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and Eimeria zuernii in calves up to 360 kg of body weight being fed in confinement.

Feeding Directions

Feed continuously during periods of exposure to coccidiosis or when coccidiosis is likely to be a hazard.

Cautions

1. Do not allow horses or other equines access to lasalocid sodium as ingestion may be fatal (required on premix and supplement labels only).

2. Do not feed Avatec® 20 undiluted. Feeding undiluted or mixing errors resulting in excessive concentration of lasalocid sodium could be fatal to cattle. (Required on premix and supplement labels only).

3. Compatible with bentonite, lignin sulfonate, and PEL-AID (Uniscope Inc.) when used as pellet binding agents (required on premix and supplement labels only).

4. Canadian data, generated in a field type fertility study in breeding ewes and in a formal fertility study in yearling and older rams, indicate that the recommended dosage of lasalocid sodium should not affect the reproductive performance of breeding sheep or lambs kept for breeding purposes.

Warnings

1. Treated sheep must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least 2 days after the latest treatment with this drug.

2. No withdrawal period is required for cattle when treated according to the label.

3. Keep out of reach of children.

IMPORTANT: MUST BE THOROUGHLY MIXED IN FEED BEFORE USE
