How to use:
Alcoholic Tincture
Videne Alcoholic Tincture is an all-purpose antiseptic for topical use. Active ingredient: Povidone-Iodine 10% w/w (1% w/w available iodine). Other ingredients: Alkyl Phenol Ether Sulphate (Ammonium Salt), Industrial Methylated Spirit 95%, Citric Acid, Anhydrous Sodium Phosphate, Purified Water. Videne Alcoholic Tincture is indicated for quick drying pre-operative skin disinfection, particularly in orthopaedic surgery. Being coloured, it gives a useful delineation (marking) of the prepared area. For external use only, not to be taken
Videne Alcoholic Tincture is applied undiluted to the area to be operated on and thoroughly painted on using a gauze swab. The solution may be allowed to dry to form a protective film (layer) or may be removed, using a sterile gauze swab. There are no special dosage recommendations for children or elderly patients. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed. Do not use if pregnant as iodine may be absorbed through the skin and may affect thyroid tests carried out on your baby. Do not use if breastfeeding or on newborn babies.

Action to be taken if swallowed:
In the event of oral ingestion seek medical attention.
Side-effects:
In very rare instances Videne Alcoholic Tincture may produce skin reactions in iodine-sensitive patients. These reactions usually subside when the treatment is stopped. If they are severe or symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use this product after the expiry date indicated on the pack.
