Constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; excitability; headache; loss of appetite; nausea; nervousness or anxiety; trouble sleeping; upset stomach; vomiting; weakness.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur while taking brompheniramine / carbetapentane / phenylephrine:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); difficulty urinating or inability to urinate; fast or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; seizures; severe dizziness, lightheadedness, or headache; severe or persistent nervousness, restlessness, or trouble sleeping; tremor; vision changes.

Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular side effects have included hypotension, palpitations, tachycardia and extrasystole.

Nervous system

Nervous system side effects have included headache, sedation, sleepiness, dizziness, disturbed coordination, fatigue, confusion, restlessness, excitation, nervousness, tremor, irritability, insomnia, euphoria, paresthesias, vertigo, tinnitus, acute, neuritis and convulsions.

Ocular

Ocular side effects have included blurred vision and diplopia.

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included epigastric distress, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation.

Genitourinary

Genitourinary side effects have included urinary frequency, difficult urination, urinary retention, and early menses.

Hematologic

Hematologic side effects have included hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and agranulocytosis.

Respiratory

Respiratory side effects have included thickening of bronchial secretions, tightness of chest or throat, wheezing, nasal stuffiness, and dryness of the mouth, nose and throat.

Hypersensitivity

Hypersensitivity side effects have included drug rash and anaphylactic shock.

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have included urticaria and photosensitivity.

General

General side effects have included chills and excessive perspiration.
