Applies to doxylamine: oral tablet, oral tablet chewable

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking doxylamine (the active ingredient contained in Unisom SleepTabs) hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • fast or uneven heart rate;

  • confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behavior;

  • severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling, or nervousness;

  • easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; or

  • urinating less than usual or not at all.

Less serious side effects of doxylamine may include:

  • blurred vision;

  • dry mouth;

  • nausea, stomach pain, constipation;

  • dizziness, drowsiness;

  • problems with memory or concentration;

  • ringing in your ears; or

  • feeling restless or excited (especially in children).
