Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking liotrix (the active ingredient contained in Thyrolar) hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Less serious side effects of liotrix may include:

• headache;

• nausea;

• depression, anxiety, feeling weak or tired;

• weight gain;

• dry or itchy skin;

• joint or muscle pain; or

• temporary hair loss (especially in children).
