As well as its needed effects, naftifine topical may cause unwanted side effects that require medical attention.

If any of the following side effects occur while taking naftifine topical, check with your doctor immediately:

Less common
  • Burning, stinging, itching, redness, or irritation of the skin
Incidence not known
  • Blistering or crusting of the skin
  • softening of the skin

Some naftifine topical side effects may not need any medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. Your health care professional may be able to help you prevent or reduce these side effects, but do check with them if any of the following side effects continue, or if you are concerned about them:

  • Dizziness
  • headache
Less common
  • Dry skin

Dermatologic

Common (1% to 10%): Burning/stinging (up to 6%), dryness (3%), erythema (up to 2%), pruritus/itching (up to 2%)
Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Rash (0.5%), skin tenderness (0.5%)
Postmarketing reports: Redness/irritation, erythema/redness, irritation, burning, blisters, crusting, dryness, mild pruritus/itching, rash[Ref]

Local

Common (1% to 10%): Local irritation (2%), application site reactions (2%)

Other

Postmarketing reports: Inflammation, maceration, swelling, serous drainage, pain

Hematologic

Postmarketing reports: Leukopenia, agranulocytosis

Nervous system

Postmarketing reports: Headache, dizziness, burning sensation
